Description | Chaetomium globosum is a mold from the family Chaetomiaceae, which has more than 100 varieties. It is distributed everywhere — in soil, air, rotting plant remains, straw, paper, feathers of birds, seeds. The optimum temperature regime is from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. Often Chaetomium globosum is found in wood and natural tissue fibers (canvas). Colonies of mold live in bathrooms and in kitchens, toilet paper, carpets and mattresses.Mold was also found in white and black pepper, cashew kernels, Brazil nuts, in some tobacco samples. When exposed to Chaetomium globosum antigens in sensitized individuals, allergic reactions may occur in the IgE-dependent type.More often they appear in the form of bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis. Clinical cases of occurrence of onychomycosis (fungal lesion of the nail plate), pneumonia are described. In immunonnekompetentnykh persons, it is possible to develop disseminated (common) fungal infection with an abscess (purulent inflammation) of the brain. The main reasons for the decrease in immunological reactivity are HIV infection, leukemia, cytotoxic agents and systemic corticosteroids, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.Immunocompetent, that is, with sufficient immune response, individuals can be carriers of infection without active symptoms. The analysis detects the presence and determines the amount of IgE class antibodies in the blood serum to the allergen of the mold fungus Chaetomium globosum. The analysis helps to diagnose the cause of respiratory allergy |
