| Description | Lymphatic vessel inflammation of humans and horses most commonly caused by strep but also by other bacteria, yeast fungus, and cancer.Lymphangitis is an inflammation of the lymphatic vessels. The causes of acute lymphangitis are the same as in acute lymphadenitis. Superficial acute lymphangitis can often be observed on the limbs. There are two forms of lymphangitis: reticular (mesh), i.e. inflammation of many small lymphatic vessels, and trunk (stem) — inflammation of one or several larger vessels. When reticular lymphangitis in the area of infection (furuncle, purulent wound or abrasion, etc.), there is a bright red — solid or spotted (marble). Unlike rye, it does not have sharp boundaries. Ternary lymphangitis is characterized by narrow red bands coming from the focus of infection towards the regional lymph nodes. In the course of these bands, a painful compaction is sometimes felt in the form of a cord or rosary. Feverish condition, in severe cases — with chills, pains are small (burning sensation). Almost always regional lymph nodes swell (often develops acute lymphadenitis). In the adverse course of lymphangitis passes into a suppuration with the formation of several abscesses or subcutaneous phlegmon along the vessel. In severely severe cases, sepsis is possible. The diagnosis of reticular lymphangitis is not difficult; Tronic lymphangitis (especially on the tibia) should be differentiated with superficial thrombophlebitis: at the latter, the compression along the vein is more pronounced and appears earlier than the redness of the skin |
